Celebrating Mr. Mike!
We kicked off the month of April with a celebration for our incredible former President and CEO, Mike Hackett. His impact on the club and our kids has been remarkable, but his retirement is well deserved. Our club members loved being able to celebrate his legacy almost as much as they loved the piñata.
Fear not, though! Mike is leaving us in the experience and capable hands of our new CEO, Robert Finch, who began his journey at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens on March 31st, 2022.
Commemorating UGA Football history!
Not only did Georgia Bulldog linebacker, Nakobe Dean, visit our club members, but our kids also got to get up close and personal with the National Championship Trophy! We love being able to expose our youth to greatness and hope to inspire the next generation of champions.
Happy Easter!
What would Easter be without a good ol’ fashioned egg hunt? Our kids loved being able to get outside and hunt for eggs to celebrate Easter.
Steak & Steak 2022!
Our 22nd Annual Locos Steak & Steak Dinner, our first since 2019, was an incredible event! UGA Athletic Director, Josh Brooks, was interviewed by a panel of our club kids. Mr. Brooks even agreed to treat the panel to ice cream!
Former club member and current music producer, Jahmori “Jay-mo Dejon” Simmons performed the National Anthem on his harp, our Boys & Girls Club dance team performed, and we awarded three bright students Youth of the Year. These students were Delysia Griffith from Cedar Shoals High School, Larry Robbins from Clarke Central High School, and Dayneris Angeli Gonzalez Gomez from Barrow Arts & Sciences Academy.
