Black History Month Spotlight - Robert Finch

While we spend the month of February honoring prominent figures in our Nation’s history, we also feel that it is important to acknowledge our own team members who have had a prominent impact on our local history.

Robert took over as The Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens’ President & CEO in March of 2022. Since then, the club has implemented and designed some exciting new programs. These programs have yielded enormous impacts in a relatively short period of time, especially in the areas of workforce development and academic catch-up.

Most of Robert’s career has been dedicated to serving others. Robert graduated from Cedar Shoals High School in Athens and went on to receive his B.S. degree in Criminal Justice and an MBA from Albany State University as a Regents award recipient. Robert received his law degree from the Florida Coastal School of Law, where he matriculated as a Governor’s Scholar. Robert has broad experience in state and federal government affairs serving as chief of staff for Georgia’s Senate majority leader and as an aide to the Georgia Senate Judiciary Committee.

Robert formed The Dean Group, LLC, a governmental affairs and business procurement firm before he relocated to Charlotte to work in Corporate & Diversity Outreach at Charlotte School of Law. He returned to Athens to serve as the Chief Diversity Officer of Athens Regional Health Systems and later assumed the role of Vice President of Human Resources & Chief Diversity Officer at Athens Regional Medical Center (now Piedmont Athens Regional). Robert is also currently a senior Pastor at Billups Grove Baptist Church in Athens, GA.

Under Robert's leadership at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens, we have partnered with the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government, as well as the Athens Housing Authority to provide wholesome, alternative activities for our youth - antidotes to gang participation and violence.
